Editor's note

Hello Everyone ,

I'll be off to Ireland mid-month to visit with Bill & Carol.

I've been toying with an idea of creating a Keeney Researchers Register were researches can place their names & e-mail addresses along with the line they are researching you can also include collateral lines if you wish. Let me know what you think of this idea.

I plan on taking some pictures of the Keeneys we meet over there and will post them on the site (ASAP)

Dan,

Just a note to let you know it's OK to open up the page with dates on my late mother, Ruth Carolyn Keeney Marsh (d.1993), daughter of the late Dr. George Harvey Keeney (d. 1969). His other daughter, Marguerite Keeney Johnson, lives in California.

Thank you for keeping up this genealogy site, which is a nice supplement to the Randleman books by Billee Webb.

"George Harvey Keeney was a medical doctor in general practice, originally in Pella, Iowa and later in Mallard, Iowa. I don't believe he practiced in Des Moines, although he did serve in the Iowa State Legislature from 1937 to 1943. George Harvey Keeney died March 3, 1969."

Peter Keeney

Has anyone found out anything on Peter? For example where he came to America From. I see two possible lines.
1. The Sir Thomas Keeney line from Northumbria England
2. A line out of Donegal Co, Ireland.
I know that I come from Peter's line, and I believe we are Irish, my grandfather has always told me that his parents had told him we were of Irish descent. If anyone can help I will be in your debt.

In the listing of the Joseph (1665-1753) Keeney and Hannah Hills family of CT John Keeney is listed as their third son and third child; he married Mary (or Mercy) Smith first and Sarah Webster in 1749; one reference shows children of John & Mary Smith as: David and Hannah. I'm anxious for information on  these children, who they married and if they stayed
in Connecticut. Will exchange information. Thanks.

Eugene Keeney, 1856 PA - Ida Keeney - Iowa

Since my May 1st, posting regarding Ida Keeney born 1891 in Atlantic, Cass City Iowa,
I have received a 1900 Census transcription. Ida's father was Eugene Keeney,
born November 1856 in Pennsylvania. His wife was Viola Bussard b 1862, also in Pennsylvania.

Children of Eugene and Viola include:
Myrtle 1883
Lulu 1885
Lewis 1886
Effie 1888
Daisy(Dayse) 1890
Ida 1891
Bertie 1894
Opal 1897
The family lived in Cass County at least until 1925.

Hopefully, one of you with PA connections might find
some connection to Eugene. Ida is my wife's maternal
grandmother.

Hardy Keeney

Does anyone have a Hardy Keeney in their line? Hardy Keeney married Julia Ann Pattie. Where/When? The only information I have on him is the 1850 Osage Co., MO census. According to the census he was born abt. 1801 in KY. The census lists children Oliver H.P. 24,   Susan 19, Matilda 16, and the next household is Sylvester P. Keeney 21. Julia Ann Pattie was the daughter of Sylvester Pattie of Bracken Co. KY.

The Benjamin in that story was married to  Dorinda Webster, Benjamin is the son of Benjamin Brown and Sarah Keeney, she is the daughter of  Thomas Keeney and Eunice House and I have that family and I will get these papers copied and sent to you but here is my problem, Benjamin and Dorinda had a son Seabury who was married to Polly Fox who daughter Elmira Brown who married Thomas Keeney, now if Sarah Keeney and  Thomas Keeney are related I don't know {I have nothing on Thomas yet} I  have some info on their children. I also have a Lina Andrews {daughter of Phoebe Brown and Harlan Andrews} who married Walter W. Keeney and a few more. I want to try and find out if all the Keeney's that married into the Brown family are related or if there is more then one Keeney family, I'm sure they are but how?   Thanks for your help. Ronda
