Albert L. Crall was born February 15, 1906 in Mason
City, Iowa. He was the son of Ralph Daniel and Ida Crall. Brother of Alice Loa (Crall)
Keeney.
Albert was born in Iowa, but he came to Walla Walla at a young age;
graduated from Wa-Hi. Following graduation, he went to Seattle and started in the sign
business at age 18. In 1930, he returned to Walla Walla and opened the Crall Sign Company,
which he operated until. his retirement in 1965.
Being very active in civic affairs, Albert was the first person to pay
dues to the Walla Walla Memorial Golf Association. He was a member of the Central
Christian Church, the Enterprise Oddfellows Lodge and the Walla Walla Toastmasters Club.
In 1954, he was a candidate for Mayor of Walla Walla. He invented the neon sign, "The
Cone With The Curl On Top" and sold it to Dairy Queen. As a hobby, he was an amateur
magician.
Albert married Katherin Foltz on February 19, 1928 and two children
were born to that union. The children were; Anita (Crall) Regstad of Jacksonville, Oregon and Robert A. Crall of Walla Walla,
Washington
On March 24, 1957 his wife, Katherin, died. Albert then married Gladys
Corkery and after about five years, they were divorced. In 1962, he married Helen Proctor.
On September 26, 1968, Albert passed away and was buried beside his
first wife Katherin, in Walla Walla.
Helen (Proctor Crall married Merle Young on March 30, 1976.
Step-children of Helen's previous marriage were; Mrs. Robert Cavanaugh, Kirkland,
Washington; Gordon Proctor, Spokane, Washington, and Thomas A. Proctor, U.S. Navy.
