Ramblings

Hello Everyone,
Again there is very little to share, as no one has been sending anything in.
The other day I was making a reply to an Elizabeth Keeney and I went to look up an address from the mailing list and accidentally added the mailing list in the To: field of that reply  I apologize that it happened, but when you get in a hurry.....

Hello,
I'm looking for a Leonard Keeney; more specifically I'm looking for the father of Leonard Keeney. Here's what I have on him:

Leonard Sherman Keeney. Leonard was born March 19, 1799 in Truxton, Cortland County (then part of Onandaga County), New York and died December 27, 1885 in Marcellon, Columbia County, Wisconsin.

Leonard married Lydia Marie Walker (born March 25, 1816 in Dummerston, Vermont and died March 2, 1880 in Marcellon, Columbia County, Wisconsin) the daughter of Phineas Walker and Anna Phelps Newton. They were married sometime after the 1840 census. Leonard and Lydia are buried together in the Marcellon cemetery, in Marcellon, Wisconsin. Lydia may have been married previously to a Fickner.

Leonard and family were in Wisconsin by 1848. They were first in Racine and then settled in Marcellon Township, Columbia County by 1850 where they had a farm.

They had the following children:

M

i.

Alfred Keeney

Born about 1840 in Truxton, New York and died in 1902 in the Wood Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Alfred served in the Civil War.

M

ii.

Ira Keeney

Born about 1842 in New York. Ira served in the Civil War.

F

iii.

Sophia Keeney

Born about 1846 in New York.

M

iv.

[Thomas] Phineas Keeney

Born about 1848 in Wisconsin. Listed on the 1850 census as Thomas.

F

v.

Louisa Keeney

Born between 1849 and 1850 in Wisconsin.

F

vi.

Elvira Keeney

Born about 1853 in Wisconsin. Died in Columbia County, Wisconsin, buried in Silver Lake Cemetary, Portage, Wisconsin.

M

vii.

Charles William Keeney

Born Mar 1854 in Wisconsin

Died about 1909 in Scioto County, Ohio.

M

viii.

Byron W Keeney

Born about 1855.

F

ix.

Emmagene Keeney

Born about 1858.

M

x.

Elijah S. Keeney

Born about 1861

I'm descended from Charles William. I have found Leonard listed on the 1840 census for Cortland County and the 1850 - 1880 census' for Columbia County, Wisconsin, but that is about all. Any help you can give is appreciated.

Crossing Jordan

Book One of the Keeney Chronicles

Intending to stay only a short time, Gayle agrees to endure the trauma and uncertainty of time travel. But again, Providence has other plans in store: becoming her own ancestor. CROSSING JORDAN: BOOK ONE OF THE KEENEY CHRONICLES
is set to hit all major bookstores this Summer 2006.

This historical/genealogical novel is the first in a series of books telling the thrilling story of one of America's founding families.

In this first book author, Gayle Keeney, unexpectedly finds that she is able, through the technology of time travel, to return to the past and actually live through the trials and tribulations of her family's history, by becoming her own ancestor. Come along with her as she gives up modern technology and practical conveniences to live in the 15th century English world of Puritanism.

Follow along as Gayle assumes the identity of Sarah Cheever and becomes the matriarch of the Keeney Family, living through intense persecution and narrow escapes from the English Crown, the relocation of her family unit to Holland, and finally her survival of a month-long voyage to America to be reunited with the man of her dreams.

Crossing Jordan promises to be an exciting read that will inspire you and remind Americans from whence they've come.
